Non Abrasive Soap & The Collapse of an Upward Spiral

The Mars Volta

De-Loused in the ComatoriumI met Cedric in Hollywood, 2003. His band The Mars Volta had just finished recording their best selling album to date, De-Loused in the Comatorium.
One of my all time favorite albums.

He & the late Jeremy Michael Ward (pictured below) attended an event my partners & I organize every Thursday night called RESPECT. Soon after this picture was taken, Jeremy would pass away from an apparent overdose while on tour. Although it was a brief encounter I couldn't help but be touched by the passing of a talented artist. It was obvious that Jeremy played a big part in the structure & early success of the band. The band would take a break & regroup with a couple of additions.

Frances the MuteA couple of close friends ended up landing gigs for most of the production of the bands follow up album Frances the MuteLots of perks. Countless numbers of shows, parties & a cameo in The Widow Video. What was not to like about this band? Very much enjoyed the experience & the music that surrounded me at the time. Frances the Mute would also go down as another one of my all time favorite albums. Not to mention the album art was done by one of my biggest design influences Storm Thorgerson. Storm is most popular in the music scene for designing & shooting most of Pink Floyds amazing album covers.

I've been busy these days & haven't really kept up too much with the band but as sure as the days turn to grey, I'm sure our paths will cross again.
