SABER:100 Foot Drops

SABER - Mad SocietyI'm standing on a billboard that over looks the Hollywood Freeway. It's rush hour. The tension compliments the gritty Hollywood freeway grime that hovers in the air. Few take notice but the ones that do seem to be caught in a daze when they spot a shadowy figure standing on the 100 ft. ledge of this raw iron billboard.

That shadowy figure happens to be
SABER. The street artist whose most noted piece covered a span of over a 100 yards in the L.A. river. A piece that would send SABER into street art stardom.

The sun's setting. SABER has been standing on this ledge for well over 2 hours. He goes through the entire process never acknowledging his positioning on the crate that grants him an extra couple of feet. I grab a couple of shots & slowly slither away down a pole to the ground below. I sit around for another hour or so marveling at the resiliency that runs through SABER's blood.

There are few that often choose to run with the devil. On that grainy, muggy day there was no 2 foot ledge. The freeways were empty. No smog to speak of. No uniformed officials. No 100 Foot Drops.
On this day none of those things existed. Only a man, his passion & willingness to dream up a world where that world becomes a reality.
